Ideal for a remake
Too bad Tom Cruise didn't play Miles in a remake. I think Tom Cruise and Steven Spielberg would've made a great team ideal for a remake. I was just watching the original Body Snatchers and I saw Tom Cruise as Miles.

sharewell the next remake IF it happens would be the FOURTH remake, how common is it for movies to be remade FOUR times? not very.... However that being said I am fascinated by the entire concept of body snatchers and would never tire of seeing more, I hope sometime another remake is done. We are averaging about one remake every 18 or 19 years since the original was filmed (it was filmed fifty six years ago and there have been 3 remakes). In eleven years when I am fifty it might be time for another remake. Being that Avatar 2 will be done well before then I can only wonder how advanced special fx technology will be by then so if done well the next version could be AWESOME.

A new one would be the fifth "Body Snatchers" movie after 2007's "Invasion." (Which sucked.) That's not counting similar concepts such as 1994's "Puppet Masters," etc.
But this is a story that naturally lends itself to remakes, I don't think it's necessarily such a bad thing. It's such a basically thrilling story, I think it helps to see it updated for new times.
What I think would really work is a good dramatic TV series....following the lives of several holdouts as they try to evade capture, etc. That would allow them to explore something I've always been curious about---what do the aliens do with the planet once they've conquered it? I'm imagining them slowly terraforming it, making it more and more like their homeworld, etc., which could be fascinating.
In some ways, the 60's series THE INVADERS elaborated on the aliens' takeover plan.
And X-FILES (influenced by THE INVADERS) took the premises further.
What on earth would that be good for? Tom Cruise would make a great podperson though - he would just have to play his own vapid, brainwashed self.
