Why were Jimmy and Wilma being so affectionate

in Miles' office even when they didn't know he was watching?

They were faking being affectionate

But why fake it if they didn't know anyone was watching? Miles was peeking from behind a curtain.

The point of the scene was that Jimmy wasn't afraid anymore.

Even with Wilma, she acted normal with talking to Miles but then when she went back into Becky's dad's shop or whatever she was acting like a motionless pod-head in one of the more disturbing scenes.
