Hospital ending hopeful?

Guess it's better than the "You're next!" ending...but, I say the movie has no hope or "real" ending. Someone believes Bonell, but what are they really going to be able to do to stop them?

I kept expecting the people listening to his story to be "pod people" too and end Bonell at the end.

It's more like what can the pod people do to stop US.

Unlike other takes on the novel - in the original movie, the takeover never got particularly far.
Now that authorities know that the problem exists and what to look for - the mop up will be quick and messy.

Yes it's a hopeful ending and not a twist. They should remake this movie again but more indepth to the story.

Exactly. What are they really going to be able to do to stop them? Not much. That is why the ending was pointless and "You're next!" really was the best. Try watching it without the starting and end scenes.

When I saw this on TV years ago I thought the twist ending was going to be that the existed main character would finally lie down and fall asleep and the doctors would bring a pod into the room.

The doctors at the hospital he was taken to after his arrest for running onto the freeway kind of seemed emotionless, though they were just acting professional since the movie had a hopeful ending. How ironic would it have been if the whole movie was him telling them his story in flashback and they were pods themselves just patiently waiting for him to tire out and fall asleep?
