What An Interesting History This Movie Has
I read that Howard Hughes bought up all prints of this film and would watch it over and over again on a film projector in his final years. His estate later sold the rights to Universal Studios and the film was put back into circulation again. A good thing that happened. As critically panned as the film was, it was an irreplaceable piece of Hollywood history.
Then there's the "Mega-Cancer Controversy" which everyone knows about. It's tragic they filmed it so near a nuclear testing site, but unbelievable that Hughes actually arranged for "60 tons" of dirt from that area back to the studio for re-shoots.
There definitely should be a movie made to tell the story about the making of this picture.
