A perfect part for Timothy Carey?

Timothy Carey would have relished being given the handyman with an axe part. These early SciFi films have a rueful appeal for former impressionable adolescents such as myself raised in Glendale in the 50s. The desert areas with an omnipresent mild wind, wide and barren vistas and a somewhat unsettling ambience were close enough for many family outings.

Surely you must also have scene The Beast of Yucca Flats. Its use of the same sort of environment creates an equally unsettling bleakness. The movie itself, though, leaves much to be desired.

Having visited Avondale last year with my family, I must admit I am envious of your childhood.
