Lime, Arkadin... Bond?

Who else feels as though Ian Fleming borrowed more than a bit from The Lives of Harry Lime for his Bond books? Arkadin resembles the back story of both Goldfinger and Hugo Drax... Am I right?

reply

Well Arkadin isn't the most original character in existence.

If Fleming borrowed from anything, I'd say it's Graham Greene, the original author of The Third Man and many other great thrillers.

I realize that, but it seems to me as though Fleming owes The Third Man and all its off-spring a lot.

Coincedently, Gert Frobe is in Mr. Arkadin, if only for the briefest of scenes.
