Ward Bond reprise

Did anyone notice the scene in the film when Ward Bond walked by the nurses he made a sort of horse sound, something he also did in the film "My Darling Clementine" when he walked by Chihuahua?

Yes. I never quite got the point of sounding like a horse as you pass a lady.

It's supposed to mimic a male horse getting excited around a female horse.

Yeah, that sounds like Bond's and Ford's kind of oafish "humor".

I never got that horse sound, but some of the humour regarding women especially during the liberty scenes look off colour these days.

Off color? Nah just sailors having a good time.

He did the same thing in The Searchers. Probably an in-joke between him and John Ford.
