I loved this movie until the end. Such a downer! Why not just have Mister Roberts leave the ship, be transferred somewhere else, but have him die at the end??? What were the writers thinking?! I couldn't believe it. . ..
shareYou missed the real plot error entirely....when Pulver read the letter to the crew from Robert's shipmate,Lt. Fornell, saying Mr Roberts was dead,he said that Mr Roberts was in the officer's wardroom having coffee with some other officer when the destroyer he was on got hit by a kamikaze...why was he in the officer's wardroom having coffee if the ship was at battle stations and under kamikaze attack?...if my own father hadn't been at Okinawa with the USN himself,I might never have caught that one
