Did Jack Lemmon copy Daffy Duck's personality?

Or is it the other way around? Ensign Pulver speaks and acts like Daffy Duck at times. He even sings and whistles "If I Could Be With You For Just an Hour" like Daffy did in a few cartoons.

I think that's just Jack Lemmons acting. If you watch some of his other films, he's acting like he's acting in this movie. I forgot who said it but someone said he often "overacts", hence why you might think he took on the persona of Daffy Duck.
