They never showed it, but what were the thugs doing to her?

After she passes out, you see the torturer walk away from her with a pair of pliers in his right hand, so definitely NO strangling (how would she be able to scream if being strangled?)
I recall reading in a book somewhere that she was 'tortured vaginally with a pair of pliers'. Make of that what you will.

It was unpleasant but her legs were jerking as she screamed then as they showed Hammer in the bed, her legs were still though she was still screaming...not cool.

I think we're supposed to imagine. How would any of US know what was happening off screen?
Not showing it is so much more effective. Whatever the most horrifying thing is that you can imagine, that's what's happening. Brrr!
