Movies with similar plot...

I thought this movie was really good, and surprisingly still relevant despite being made 50+ years ago.

Although I think this might be the first, I couldn't help notice the plot is very similar to several other movies - dedicated teacher tries to get through to impoverished and/or delinquent students. It usually involves some threat of danger to the teacher, growing frustration for the "system", followed by thoughts of resignation from the school. Then, after "getting through" to one or more students, the teacher decides to stay at the school after all. These are the ones I could think of right off the bat:
