Cinematography

I am very surprised that this movie didn't even get a nomination from the acedamy for Best Cinematography. The camera work in this film is amazing. It seems this movie was not well received when it came out. I find there is element with Douglas Sirk direction that grabs my attention. Normally I wouldn't think I would like "All That Heaven Allows" (1955) or "Written on the Wind" (1956). I found both of these movies extremely entertaining.

I agree. "All That Heaven Allows" is such a beautifully crafted film. Wyman and Hudson are superb in this. I think this movie is a classic.

Really? Why, I thought it was famous for that gorgeous cinematography.
Reminded me of some tale... It had the feeling of it.

On Orson Welles: People should cross themselves when they say his name.

You are right; this movie is just gorgeous to look at. It's too bad that, with all the computer-aided filmwork done today, that this old-school overly-saturated Technicolor cannot be recreated. I would love to see film of this visual caliber again.
