He's not just a gardener...


He's a business owner - a respectable business owner with a very nice piece of property. I kept saying that every time a character said Ron was a gardener. I know it was a different time and all, but I had to keep trying to convince myself that these were real problems. Same with the age thing. Cary's children were over-the-top in their criticism about the situation and didn't care enough about their mother's happiness.

Other than that it was a beautiful film and I'm glad I saw it. The pacing was good and Hudson, Wyman and Moorehead are a winning combination. I enjoyed the topic of how technology can help take the place of social interaction - a subject still relevant today.

He was still considered lower class relative to the country club set as a gardener, even though he was a business owner. Of course it's stupid; that's kind of the point.
