a woman is attracted to a hansome, pretty man, and wants to marry him.that's very natural.

if she wants to marry an ugly man, or a negro man ,in the name of free spirit. maybe that could be called like that....

It's true the age difference thing has been overstated a bit, there were certainly many movie couples before Wyman and Hudson were there was an even bigger age gap between the older actress and the younger actor however the combination of age difference and social standing difference is what makes this film unconventional for it's time.

Yes, that was more the point. People still cared about social class at that time. And it's probably still the case for "old money" families.
