Hey, Universal, how about a Sci-Fi Set?

Universal has given us the Legacy DVD collections of Frankenstein, Dracula, the Mummy, Invisible Man, Creature from the Black Lagoon, the Wolf Man and (more recently) Bela Lugosi and Hammer Horror. So, why not a Legacy DVD collection of Universal's sci-fi classics from the 1950s? Titles could include THE INCREDIBLE SHRINKING MAN, THIS ISLAND EARTH, TARANTULA, DEADLY MANTIS, LAND UNKOWN, MONSTER ON CAMPUS, MOLE PEOPLE, LEECH WOMAN, CULT OF THE COBRA and MONOLITH MONSTERS. (IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE has already been given a deluxe DVD release, with some excellent extras.) I know some of these are not technically Sci-Fi, but Universal previously packaged them as their "Golden Age of Sci-Fi Collection" on VHS.

As far as I know, there's already one in the works that will come out early next year. Very exciting news, indeed!

Yes, Universal Studios is sitting on a goldmine of as-yet unreleased classic films for the DVD market, made in Hollywood's golden age of the 1950s and 1960s. This movie is a prime candidate and is being bootlegged on the internet and you can buy bootleg copies of this movie on eBay. I understand one of the hottest bootlegged DVD movie selling on eBay is THIS ISLAND EARTH (Universal, 1955). Thousands of bootleg copies of THIS ISLAND EARTH may have been sold by now on eBay and other internet outlets by pirate sellers. (Universal, are you reading this?) Universal missed its chance for a 50th Anniversary collector's edition.
