Why Does Ruth Say She Doesn's Remember Cal?

That whole scene when they "meet" was awkward and Ruth's memory issue never gets resolved. Does anyone have any idea why the writers chose to give the leads a back-story that only one of them remembered?

She didn't trust him. She thought he'd been brainwashed like everyone else.

How did you figure that out?

...pretty much by watching the movie. If you only saw the MST3K version, you missed a lot.

AHHHHH, OK, thanks. I did only see it by watching the MST3K movie. The film jumped around a lot, I should have figured that T.I.E. couldn't have been THAT badly edited.

I highly recommend the real version. It's *excellent* and for sale at Amazon. Probably other places too, but as a rule I prefer tried-and-true stores. (You can luck into some good stuff bootleg, but you have to be prepared to sacrifice quality for availability).
