Cafe Metaluna

I had an idea for a cafe disco club back in the 1980s at Universal's City Walk, which would replicate the flying saucer interior in THIS ISLAND EARTH exactly, which would be known as CAFE METALUNA. It would have a dance floor around the control throne chair and atom structure with its rotating platform and colored lights, a bar in front of the decompression tubes, a restaurant with food from all over the galaxy, and an occasional visit by the Metaluna Mutant, all sponsored by Universal Studios as a promotional tool by the studio. Hey, if they can have a CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON Musical Revue, they can build CAFE METALUNA! They can add this to the BACK TO THE FUTURE Ride and the JURASSIC PARK Ride as one of the attractions.

The club could feature live performances, deejay dance mixes, and mixed media shown on the giant viewscreen. They could have employees dressed in Metaluna uniforms like Cal, Ruth and Exeter! And perhaps even build a full-size replica Interocitor which could be glowing and flashing its lights and we could see scenes from THIS ISLAND EARTH on its triangular viewscreen! Rex Reason would love it! Universal, are you monitoring these posts?

I love the Art Deco-style spaceship interior with its glass blocks used in the design of the flying saucer control room, the decompression tubes, the viewscreen, and the control throne chair, with its rotating discs for each hand. And especially the atom-structure instrument which indicates how much atomic energy is being used, and for what purpose, by the saucer's atomic reactor below it.

The restaurant should have a menu of specialties created by "Unit 16".
