I found a copy of This Island Earth at a Big Lots store,of all places. If you have one of these stores in your area, you might want to check it out.

Wherever you go, there you are.

I understand that the residents of Metaluna are understandably bummed out about their planet being destroyed, but they're faces are literary blue? Every time I watch this movie, I get this irresponsible urge to yell at Braak "Take some Zoloft, idiot!"

So, does every copy of this movie have the one scene where all four characters faces are blue? It's on Metaluna soon after they arrive...to meet the supreme ruler. Everything and even all their faces are blue. Before they enter and after they leave that place the color returns to normal. Is this a flaw in the Technicolor in the negative this was taken from? It looks like the red element is missing. I've noticed this flaw in every DVD and Blu Ray copy.

I've been thinking about your question since I read your reply, and I think I have a theory. The reason why every character's face turns blue on the surface of Metaluna may be that the filmmakers used it as a way to empathize to the audience that this was an alien planet.

I've read that the prep time for the SFX was two years, an the SFX were considered advanced for the time. So, I don't think it was a screwup.

Stay Weird, stay Different.
