When the movie came to Sweden the people who named the movie only looked at the cover and thought that it was Spiders. :D

in germany, its called "Formicula" (probably referring to the in germany more popular - but worse - movie "Tarantula").
Mostly, i guess because "Them!" literally translated would be "Die!" (like "Dee") which sounds stupid as a movie title. even in germany.
anyway i loved this movie as a child. couldnt even sleep at night. its still great today.

Interesting. "Formicula" sounds like it was derived from "formica" (latin for "ant") with the "-ula" ending from that "Tarantula" movie.
Yes. There are times when literal translation has to give way to conveying the intended meaning. And "Formicula" might suggest a giant ant.
To me I see a connection between Formicula and formic acid, which is why the bite or sting of some ants is so painful.

shareI heard about that, I cant believe that they made that mistake. Even if they just looked at the cover it should be obvious that they are ants. I live in Sweden myself but when i saw it they had luckily changed the title back to "Them!".
It's a great movie by the way.
I would really like the sound clip when the little girl cries out "THEM!"
