I love it when Old Doc gets crotchety!

The part in the aircraft while out searching for the mound, and the senior Medford has problems with the radio communication's protocol of ending with "Over!" and "Over and Out!"

He had just been so unflappable up to that time, and he just dug his old heels in on that point. In modern times I'm sure he would have let loose with a petulant, "BITE ME!"

I'm sure most of us have had encounters with the elderly who reach the "I've had it with all your Kid stuff!" and won't budge till they're good and ready.

I too get a kick out of that scene, a cerebral man who could care less about proper radio procedure at the time.

The thing with old people is that we've experienced more than enough silly BS, we're tired of it, we've got nothing to lose, and we're not going to go along with it any more. I often felt the same way when I was younger, but back then there were things at stake: I had to keep a job, I wanted to be liked, etc. Now I just don't give a crap. It's liberating--something for you to look forward to.
