this HAS to be what I am looking for

Is this the one where the ants enslave humans and force them to work in sugar mills?? I may be wrong, how many giant ANT movies were there? I haven't seen it since I was about 7, so I just want to be sure this is what I am looking for. If it's not and you know thw title I need, please share! THANKS! GIANT ANTS RULE!

Not sure of the one you're thinking of, but it's not this one. Them! doesn't involve any enslaving, nor does it involve even slightly apocalyptic scenarios that the coverart suggests... much to my dissapointment. Great movie regardless, I recommend this one to you if you like giant ants - and as soon as someone figures out the name of the one you're looking for, I'll have to check it out.

I think you guys are thinking of EMPIRE OF THE ANTS, a truly dreadful movie from 1977, starring Joan Collins at the nadir of her career. Giant ants on a remote island off Florida stuff humans into phone booth-like boxes where they're brainwashed and become the ants' slaves. As you can tell, very realistic. Badly done, dull and stupid from the word go, not even fun on a camp level. Skip it.

But THEM!...that's one of the best, a genuine classic. Highly recommended.

Robert Lansing
John David Carson
Albert Salmi
Pamela (Susan) Shoop
Brooke Palance ~~ Jack's daughter
IMDb review excerpt:
Supposedly based on a story by H.G. Wells, "The Empire of the Ants" is about how a group of people go to one of those shindigs put on by real estate folks hoping you will buy some of their resort property after drinking some of their third-rate drinks and eating some of their crummy snacks. Joan Collins is running the show, hoping to sell all the people who came by boat to her real estate project a lot. Seems she is not a wholly reputable businesswoman, yet she has no knowledge of the fact that giant ants that grew from a leaking can of nuclear waste have taken over the resort and begin feeding on her guests, first in pairs. In one of the more ridiculous scenes in the film, giant ants run on the dock, jump on the boat, attack one of the crew, and then cause the skipper, hardily played by Robert Lansing, to set fire to the ship and leave the survivors no recourse but to trek back by foot. The journey back causes lots of death and destruction. ... Finally, the remaining few reach a town that secretly has been taken over by giant ants that spray a mist over people and make them do their bidding.

*** The trouble with reality is there's no background music. ***
