Really surprised how much i liked this..

..watched it on TCM tonite.. I guess the subject matter and box art
always made it look pretty cheesy to me, but i was surprised how intense
and interesting this movie was..

Yes, it had some 50's cheese (and attempts at sexism, though you have to
give it to the female doc totally owning it in the first nest!)

I was surprised how well-developed the characters were. You especially
felt it when the cop died, saving the kids no less.

Really a great movie. Happy i watched it (finally.)

That would explain why there are four threads dated 27 October 2013. You three, you lucky three, you band of brothers must have been watching TCM at the same time. You were joined together by a giant bug movie and you didn't even realise it.

I was pleasantly surprized as well. Figured it'd be cheesy as hell. It actually did have a serious tone to it and was done well. *Think* the 1950s version of "Ward of the Worlds", also really good like that.

I first saw this movie in 1966. where i grew up we had Creature Feature & Dr Shock & 6 horror/sci fi movies a week.

This movie & The Thing from Another World showed me at a young age what a good movie was.

It was funny watching this & then Attack of the Crab Monsters. Crab Monsters was entertaining but in every measurable way looked pretty lame compared to Them!

The actors, writing, Music, direction, sets effects........etc were all so spot on it was remade in the 80's & called Aliens!

I watch this flick like once or twice a month & it is how i recognize William Schallert (ambulance driver).
