Them! Re-make?

Has there been any serious attempts to re-make or release an updated sequel to Them!?

reply

EIGHT LEGGED FREAKS was an "homage" to films like THEM! but no official remakes or sequels. Imagine what they could do with the ants with CGI technology and Stan Winston's animatronics.

id rather they left them! alone, it shouldnt be remade, its still amazing to this day

I'm not utterly anti-remake, but if they can't do a better job somehow they should leave it alone. Just making the monsters CGI isn't good enough.

I am all for a remake of this movie. I generally hate remakes that require good acting to be the central focus of the movie, but in this case, I would love to see Peter Jackson take on this remake like he did with King Kong. That would be great.

Nooooooo Nooooooo Noooooooo. Not as long as there is CGI I would never ever watch a re-make. To some degree the use of modern day computer tech had ruined the art of film making. Make a true re-make. Build the ants, build the sets. If there's anyone left in the industry who can still do that.

Well, seeing as how bad the remake of "The Day The Earth Stood Still" was, I hope they leave this one alone ...

As far as I’m aware there’s no remake but if you like the whole ant-attack scenario (which I know I do) there’s a couple of computer games you might like to take a look at.

It Came From The Desert - from Cineware’s heyday - is a computer game that sees the player attempt to heroically save a desert town from an attacking ant horde. I remember playing it on the Amiga 500 and I’m sure it was available on other platforms (there’s videos of the game on youtube also).

One of the Command And Conquer titles (possible Red Alert) featured a level that resembled It Came From The Desert (which resembled Them). I’m not a fan of that type of game so I don’t know much more…

Roach that's classic!!!! I was browsing and remembered that the movie Them scared the bejeezus out of me as a kid and I still remember it to this day. Then, as a middle school boy I remember the game that I played the most on my parents 386 comupter was It Came From The Desert. That game was awesome and I played it over and over again. Wow, thanks for taking me back because I wouldn't have remembered that until I read your post. I wonder if it's possible to find a copy of the game on a torrent website that would run properly on my PC?

Earlier this decade, I was hoping that they would make a sequel in time for the 50th anniversary of the movie in 2004. I imagined a title of "Them Again?" with the ants re-emerging after 50 years. Not sure of the plot, but I had the protagonist as the granddaughter of James Arness and Joan Weldon, with someone like Sigourney Weaver as Weldon's daughter. I was thinking that Weldon could make an appearance in the movie to help her daughter and granddaughter battle the ants.

No more remakes for the next ten years. I'm that tired of them.
