shareThere has NEVER been a remake of THEM!, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. You may have seen some other movie with killer or large size ants, but it definitely had NO connection to this movie classic.
There had been talk for years of Warner Bros. finally doing an official remake. Unfortunately, it fell into Hollywood's infamous "development hell" and off the studio's development slate. But at one point Joe Johnston -- who directed THE ROCKETEER and the recent CAPTAIN AMERICA movie (among other things) and who has a solid special effects background given that he began his career by working at ILM in its founding days (and thus would be a solid choice for an effects heavy remake like this) -- was supposed to helm it, but then the project fell apart.

The movie i think he's refering to is a thriller that share the name but is about two people in a house that's being harased by a group of naniacs, or something like that.
I haven't seen it myself, but it share the name and the year he mentioned.
The '06 movie sounds almost like a remake of "Straw Dogs".
