It's hard to say from the examples you've given. I think of all of those as singing-centric musicals. Brides / Brothers is more of a dance-centric musical.

Now that doesn't mean that a dance-centric musical (including 7Bf7B) can't have some great songs, nor that a singing-centric musical can't have one or two really good dance sequences. It's just a matter of where the focus is, overall across the whole show.

Musicals that star the likes of Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Juie Andrews, or Jennette MacDonald tend to be singing-centric.

Musicals that star Fred Astair or Gene Kelly, or were created by Bob Fosse, tend to be dance-centric.

(And yes, I know that what I just said puts Holiday Inn on both sides. Note that I said "tend to be", not "unequivacably are".)

How do you like the dance-ier musicals, such as those starring Gene Kelly? I think that's probably how you'll respond to Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

7Bf7B doesn't have as much of the joke driven comedy that you tend to see in Astaire - Rogers musicals (there are laughs, but not many of those vaudevillian punch lines). It's also not as dark in its content and themes as West Side Story or most of the Bob Fosse shows.
