No 'F' names in the Bible?

Mrs. Pontipee didn't look very hard. There are men with "F" names in the Bible. Both Felix and Festus are major supporting characters in the story of the Apostle Paul in the book of Acts.

and according to wikipedia there's Fortunatus too. Maybe those Pontipees were used to only give names from the old testament since those F names seem to be all from the new one (all latin names).

reply

Could be, but then frankincense is in the NT -- one of the gifts the wisemen brought.

There's also Saint Frederick. Don't think the name is in the Bible, but it's a good noble name anyway.

This has been gone into before. It was decided that all the F names in the Bible were Romans, and therefore would not be considered.

Also, Festus and Flavius are bad guys.

But those OT names were in Hebrew originally, so you could spell Phinehas as Finehas.

reply

True, but I think they were using artistic license so 'Frank' could show his rebellious side.
