There is one major question that is not answered in the movie. Did the brothers see the girls at any time between the barn-raising and the kidnapping? Adam does ask why the boys are grieving for the girls since they barely saw them more than once, but we don't know for sure. For all we know, one or more of the boys could have sneaked into town for a secret visit and learned the details of the girls' living arrangements. Hypothetically, they could even have gone...um...further than was appropriate at that time and caused an out-of-wedlock pregnancy.
In other posts in this thread some people questioned the logic of all of the girls claiming baby Hannah as "Mine!" b/c they did not think the girls were at the cabin that long. I tend to agree that the girls weren't in the mountains long enough for any conception-to-delivery pregnancies, but it is entirely possible that one of the girls could have become pregnant at some time between the barn-raising and kidnapping. Maybe the fathers considered that possibility and decided to permit the marriages.
