I know it's inevitable that bit by bit the entire cast will die off, such is the age of the film, but still, it saddens me every time. I've grown up with this film, first saw it as a child in the 80s and loved it then, never stopped. Over the last couple of years I've been watching it again and I realized slowly that the cast was dying off and it makes viewing the film bitter sweet. I know these people aren't these characters, but I'm become so attached to them that watching them now seems like I'm watching ghosts, memories of people I used to know.

Yes, I know that's a bit weird, but still, it's how I feel about it, the inevitable death of these people will always sadden me.

Marc Platt was a very talented and athletic dancer. He was in Oklahoma! in the dance cast and has a speaking role as one of Curly's cowboy friends in the last half. He started out in Rita Hayworth musicals. To see him do some really great dancing, catch his solo dance in Down To Earth, one of the Hayworth films.

He's the one who blows me away when he's swinging his hatchet. What a graceful-but-masculine man! I'm glad he had such a long life.
