The sports car David was driving was what kind of car, I thought it was a good looking car.

It was a Nash-Healey

I've been a car fan all my long life and I had never seen one of these.

From 1951 to 1954 they only built approximately 400 of them so they were rare when they were new. Another one would appear in a later Bogart film (The Desperate Hours) in the following year. Last I heard less than 100 of them still exist.
