What a dress!
The white one with black embroidery at the party. Just noticed Edith Head was the designer. A standout.

sharethat dress is so amazing it makes my jaw drop overtime i see it!!!
I bet you're wondering what a place like this is doing in a girl like me-The Mummy
The dress was an original design for her by Givenchy. Edith head was the costume designer/supervisor but did not do that magnificent gown.
shareYeah -- that dress is so gorgeous and truly looks stunning on Audrey. She must have the much bally-hooed, Scarlett O'Hara "Gone With the Wind", 19-inch waistline because her figure certainly
showed off that dress
perfectly!
I always remember her standing on the platform at the station and wondering how that dress fit in her few suitcases (unless her wardrobe and belongings from two years in Paris were packed in trunks delivered later). And she spoke of "pressing" it before she went to the party. A dress like that would have been steamed. Givenchy outdid himself.
shareOne of the chief reasons I suspect that - Academy Award for Best Costume Design - Edith Head eventuated.🐭
shareI think Givenchy designed all Hepburn's wardrobe for this film. Hepburn requested that Givenchy design her clothes and Givenchy mistakenly thought he would be working for Katherine Hepburn. If he had known he was working for a newcomer he might not have agreed but then he met Audrey and they became fast friends.
shareAnd she had to pay for it out of pocket. That stinks because she was only paid $15k for this role. In my opinion, she alone brought profit for this film.
