I got to see it at the gorgeous Egyptian Theatre, as part of a presentation on the 'Golden Age' of travel.

Great! Gorgeous color. It's really a prototypical film of the Studio era, even though that system was slowly crumbling when "Long Trailer" was produced.

I think that it still had good decade to go.

Perhaps so, but the writing was on the wall. Television and theatre closures took a huge chunk out of the box office, then the bloated post-1965 musicals administered the coup-de-grace.
