Trailer People 11,000 ,,, 96,500

With the mortgage, cash and trade in for the new car and the taxes and fees the tally amounts to approx. $11,000 {1954}.
Inflation brings it to $96,500 in today's money.

Question: Could you do it today for that amount of money??

I think some things out-paced inflation. A decent vehicle that would be capable of pulling a trailer of that size would probably cost more than $45k by itself.

I doubt you could find a car today heavy enough to pull that trailer. You'd have to use a pick up truck.

For $96,000 these days you could buy a used motorcoach.

reply

That's a good point, especially with the big rocks Tacy was stowing in the trailer.
