Desi is very good
I don't think the movie or I Love Lucy would have worked if Desi wasn't as good as he was. In interviews, at least one I recall, Lucille Ball did credit Desi for his comic acting abilities. He has a number of moments in the movie: the panic attacks, his shower scene. When he meets Grace you can glimpse his character "thinking," 'Ok, she's not all there.' And I love his reactions to Lucy's driving. And in the diner when he wants to sell the trailer. She asks where the'll live. His response is spot on: "In a HOUSE like human beings!"
