It is coming to TCM on 12-27-07 at 1 A.M. EST!

Please be sure to check your tv guide for the time in your area. The time may not be convenient for you to watch and if so set those recorders. TCM is also showing Island in the Sky before this movie. These are two great John Wayne movies worth watching if you haven't seen them. Enjoy!

Thanks for posting that. Thank god for TCM. I love that channel.

I love TCM also. No commercials, and I've seen very rare movies that are not even available in video or dvd.

The High and the Mighty, though, is available in dvd now in a deluxe edition and finally I own it. Still as heartbreaking as ever. I don't agree with all the negative Nellies who were not even born when the movie was first on tv. So they don't like it? No one cares! A generation raised on crude humour, sarcasm and violence wouldn't see the subtleties in these characterizations.

Just because somebody wasn't born at that time and doesn't like the movie doesn't mean their a "negative Nelly". Either you like something or you don't. You're assuming anybody that didn't like the movie is a teenage kid who just likes to see stuff blow up and foul language and nudity. That's just not the case. I think there's other people that are much older than me that had issues with this movie. Personally, I may not have been born till about 15 years after this movie came out, but I love the classics. This movie I did not care for

Go read the original 1954 New York Times review for this movie. That guy had issues with the film. I guess he was raised on "crude humor, sarcasm and violence" too, right? Don't make such sweeping generalizations. Film, like any entertainment medium, is completely subjective. Not everyone will like or dislike the same things. I'm sure there's movies on this site's Top 250 that you don't like, but obviously a large majority of people do. Does that make you a "Negative Nelly?" I love this movie and I'm 28 years old, and can appreciate all kinds of subtle dramas from Hollywood's Golden Years as well as crude humor and gratuitous violence from movies today.
