Soundtrack trivia

I've seen this movie a thousand times and it has so many cool details. One of the most obscure is the background soundtrack. Not main dialogue but almost sound effects to make everything more realistic.

In the check in scene at the beginning of the film behind the dialog there is a paging system that makes flight arrival and departure announcements from time to time. One announcement is:

"Helen Bell, please report to the ticket office. Mrs. Helen Bell, please report to the ticket office".

This film was made by Warner Brothers in 1954. 14 years later Warners Brothers made a film called "Bullit" and the last scene is an extended chase thru the San Francisco airport. Toward the end of that sequence in the background paging system you can hear the same page:

"Helen Bell, please report to the ticket office. Mrs. Helen Bell, please report to the ticket office".

Other trivia:

William Campbell, one of the copilots in this film was once married to a woman who was later known as Judith Campbell Exner who had an extended affair with JFK and Sam Gianconna at the same time.

Michael Wellman is the directors son.

Sidney Blackmer (Mr. Agnew) later played Roman Castevet in Rosemary's Baby

Robert Easton, the cargo clerk at the beginning of the film has become one of Hollywood's leading acting and dialect coaches to some of the biggest stars.

Doe Avedon used to be a top model and was married to top fashion photographer Richard Avedon

Its a fun film with an interesting cast.

How cool, the trivia about the 'page' from THATH and Bullitt. Nice find!

The movie was not made by Warner Bros. It was made by Wayne-Fellows Productions, an independent production company owned by John Wayne and Robert Fellows. Warner Bros were the distributors of the early W-F movies. John Wayne bought out Robert Fellows' share after about 3 years and changed the name of the company to Batjac. After the intial distribution deal with WB expired John Wayne signed a new deal with United Artists to distribute Batjac productions.

It may not have been made BY Warner Brothers but I'll bet it was made AT Warner Brothers.

Also, how many John Wayne films are there that also have Paul Fix in the cast. I think they were good pals.

More trivia: Ever see Shing Through" with Michael Douglas and Melanie Griffith? They use a stock clip from THATM of a plane exterior that flies across the Atantic during WWII. In a plane labled "TOPAC"!
