Ofcourse defenders of this movie will say that you don't understand that that's the way movies were back then and because you are very young and only wanna see violence and destruction

reply

Based on what, actually?!

Courage is being scared to death - but saddling up anyway. John Wayne

reply

Very overlong and boring film in which nothing happens.

I respect thye opinion of the Op but I wonder exaCtly why he did't like this movie. I think it has a great cast and a good suspensefull script.

Oh GOOD!,my dog found the chainsaw

Well ya...no skin, no blood and dismambered bodies, no GCI, no huge overdone explosions. Just a good movie with a decent plot, good story line and some decent acting. Pretty much based on fact as well.

A DC 6 carried enough fuel to make that trip plus a little left over. This was also long before computers, GPS, good auto-pilots and many other things we take for gantid today. Navigators had to navigate, pilots had to fly and flight engineers ran the airplane.

It's called 'Suspense'.
'Boring'? I don't think so,
but to each his own, I guess!

Yet another sweeping generalization that any fan that doesn't like the movie is just a kid who needs to get his action, sex, violence, and CGI fix.

reply

It's pretty hard to call this a disaster film, really.

reply

It was boring because Wayne was a right wing conservative who went on to make that awful movie about the Green Berets.

Absurdity: A Statement or belief inconsistent with my opinion.

reply

No it's not. The whole film really is a disaster

I was delighted to finally add this DVD to my John Wayne collection, but terribly disappointed by the film itself. Some of it was exciting and suspenseful, and the Duke was great, of course, as were many of his co-stars.

But that dialogue was just awful! Every time one of the insufferably verbose passengers started running off at the mouth--which they did at the drop of a hat--they all sounded like they were reciting awkward-sounding lines straight from the same wordy, non-cinematic novel. I don't mind when characters in a movie don't always speak realistically, but it got to the point where almost every dialogue exchange had some cringeworthy element to it.

I really wanted to like this movie. Hopefully, repeat viewings will lessen the severity of my initial disappointment.

I've always loved this movie but I do have to agree that it is too long, and does get a little boring.
