Toss Toby out the door

When everybody is getting ready to toss their baggage out to save fuel, John Wayne picks up Toby. I thought he was going to chuck him out the door.

It seemed funny at the time.

At an end your rule is, and not short enough it was.

LOL! Saw the movie for the first time on AMC this weekend and thought the exact same thing! For a moment I wondered what the heck John Wayne was going to do with the kid he was holding.

That's correct...but there was that "weird" moment beforehand. In fact, as I recall, he had a similar moment with Natalie Wood in THE SEARCHERS, where he looked like he might throw her off the cliff. (I've heard film experts discuss that moment, about how his character was so disgusted with her being made into an Indian and how he was most likely thinking that she would probably run back to them.) The ladder wasn't unintentionally comical, of course, like the former.

ROTFLMBO! That is HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!! Sounds like something they would do in 'Airplane'.

Hilarious! My vote would be for Lenny, the hapless navigator- make a mistake on my flight will you?

They should have tossed they nut who pulled a revolver and any passenger going into hysterics.

I hate it when someone goes into hysterics in a disaster movie.

The Duke might as well have tossed Toby out of the plane for all the dynamic that he brought to the narrative...which was nothing.

Pretty much a waste of space if you ask me.

He just kept on sleeping through every thing, with different characters throwing another blanket over him every so often.

Same here!!
