He was in this movie and 'Airplane'.
I bet he enjoyed spoofing 'High and the Mighty'.
Considering that 26 years separated the movies, Stack certainly aged well.
By 1980, his persona was so clearly established that he was really spoofing every role he every played in addition to TH&TM specifically. It's nice to see he had a sense of humor about himself.
While filming Airplane! Stack went to co-star Lloyd Bridges and told him he didn't get the jokes. Bridges replied, "Bob, we're the jokes!"
