Yeah, he has the lead in the credits, but it seems to me he did less work here than in his other roles. He played more as a supporting character in this one, not the larger than life character he usually plays.
shareThere was an introduction on the DVD I have and they said Wayne never intended to be in this film and was the last one cast. I'm guessing that if it started as a John Wayne vehicle his role would have been a lot bigger - especially given it was his production company that made this film.
