Yet another old man chasing a young woman in an 195os movie

The creature is great but then we have this sub plot, a romance between a middle aged man and a young woman.

I laughed when someone commented in the movie, 'you two not married yet.' I thought, married? I thought David the older man was Kay's father. He's about 30 years older than her and he looks it.

In one scene David is trying to be romantic with Kay. The sight of his old weather-beaten lined skin next to hers was vomit time. Then he kisses her and I did vomit.

I think you're overreacting just a bit. The actor is only 14 years older than the actress. His character was probably supposed to be somewhat younger (not unusual in movies). also, it is not unusual in the real world for people of different ages to have romantic relationships.

He does look in his 50s, though, but you're right she was only 14 years younger.

I just get fed up of seeing middle aged guys pretending thy're in their late 20s or early 30s. There would have been no problem getting a much younger actor to be the hero in this movie.

Thanks for your reply.

There appeared to be a much older man trying to bed a much younger woman in the Creature from the Black Lagoon sequel in 1955, Revenge of the Creature. John Agar was 12 years older than Lori Nelson but he looked a lot older than her.

10 to 20 year differences in age where quite common then. A man was supposed to be well established before he married so he could support a wife. My paternal grandfather was nearly 20 years older than my paternal grandmother. My maternal grandparents were closer but there was still a 11 year gap.

Ridiculous. Dude looked plenty young and was in great shape.

I can't imagine that happening in a movie made in 2021. You need to get out more

Well said.

You sound surprised. It's almost as if things were different 60 years ago. . .
