NEWS ON THE REMAKE!!!!!!!!!

Well i just read at COuntingdown.com that Del Toro has jumped off the project and Universal now has some new guy writting a script. But this film is going to happen with Universal doing remakes of all it's classic monsters i still (being a huge fan of this film) question this because no offense to Universal the ressurection of it's other monsters already has been (In my opinion) a failure. I mean The Munny remake and it's stupid follow up sucked! it was not even a horror film and then you got Van Helsing witch was not much better. (Even though i loved that the Frankenstien monster finally looked somwhat like he did in the origonal film) I thought that they totaly miss used The Wolf Man. Anywayi hope that Universal gets the head out of their asses and does this one right i mean out of all the classic horror icons The Gill Man needs a good remake and it needs to be a truue horror film. I mean down right scary!!!!!!!!!

cgi means they'll throw in everything and bloat it up till it's bursting at the seams with mediocrity. (Helsing, Mummy Returns) Del Toro sounds like a director who knows what works and what doesn't so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

What's campy about movies nowadays is the need for a sequel though Expect the the remake to be start of a 3-movie franchise.

I would like it set in the 1950's bringing the creature out of its era doesn't realy fit in well if you ask me.

reply

That goes without saying. The original film was followed by two others: Revenge of the Creature and The Creature Walks Among Us.

I agree. They're are going to have to politically correct it, make the white males look stupid and greedy and everybody else hip. As for the soundtrack, yeah it'll be crap, I mean rap.

I'll avoid it, just like when they remade the Wild, Wild West. What a piece of crap that was.

Oh, poor baby. Is the big bad PC squad going to ruin your little frog-monster movie? Are you gonna cwy if the white man isn't comfortingly-powerful in the movie?

There there, little white fella. You're powerful ... you're powerful. Feel better?

Nah, you're thinking of creepy hispanic boat captain with a serious "potential rapist" vibe.

Remakes are inevitable, so we had better just brace ourselves.

I first saw this movie at part of a double feature when I was in my mid teens. That scene when she was swimming in the river on the surface in that incredible white one piece bathing suit and, unknown to her, the Creature was swimming below her, upside down, gazing at her, in burned into the retina of my mind.

When they remake the movie, and it is "when" not "if", that is going to be a hard scene to replicate.

When they remake it, it would be nice if the would make a low key, updated and cool remake, not an attempted blockbuster. What are the chances of that?

reply

They should probably hold off on this remake right now, another Gill Man movie deserves recognition, with the slump in hollywood now, it would get flushed down the toilet

i'd like to see a dark low budget Blair Witch-style treatment with scant CG and more psychological drama and HEINOUS attack sequences. why don't y'all thro in like $100K each and i'll see to it.

i loved this flick as a kid and agree wholeheartedly with the impact of the "shot of the Creature looking up at the girl in th white dress" shot.

i actually had a glow in the dark CFTBL model that would glow in my bedroom all night as a kid. he was scary but i thought of him as an ally somehow...funny.

what wasnt funny was how insanely scared Halloween made me when i saw it at WAAAAY too young an age. the innocent days of the Creature were gone forever and Michael Myers lived in my closet...which i would stare at all night instead of my cool Creature model.
