Did anyone notice....?

Did anyone notice that the first Creature from the Black Lagoon and the sequal both ended the exact same way? With the creature floating in the water, dead from gunshot wounds.

Actually, I just saw the first one and it ended with the injured creature swimming off, into the depths.

You're correct, Jawa. Both films end with the same exact shot - the Creature in one position, floating lifelessly towards the bottom of the lagoon (first film ) and ocean (second film.) It was a good shot, as it looked like he was dead, but didnt confirm it, so if they wanted a sequel, they didnt have to worry about resurrecting the Creature; or, if no other sequel was warranted, it was good enough an ending to suggest he died.

It was the same footage both times.

I agree the third one had some great moments.

I've come here to kick a$$ & chew bubble gum . . . and I'm all out of bubble gum!

watching the movie right, teacher required it for film class, and well, this movie sucks. it looks like what it was, a cheap creature horror movie. the creature looks like he's gonna drown, he looks like he's having trouble swimming. its funny.

reply

I can't imagine why you'd think that. Ricou Browning was an expert swimmer and the moves he came up with for the Creature's underwater scenes are great. And the costume is one of the best monster suits ever made. It certainly isn't just a cheap horror movie.

I think MST3K has gotten a lot of people in the habit of looking for things to make fun of in old movies instead of just trying to appreciate them, even in film classes.
