There was of course a mutiny on the USS Somers in 1845.

And three men were put to death on the ship, including Philip Spencer, the son of Secretary of War John C. Spencer. The officers on board the Somers were unanimously in favor of the death sentences.

The commander of the Somers, Alexander Slidell Mackenzie, was court-martialed at his own request to determine the legality of his actions. He was acquitted, but there was some strongly adverse public opinion.
