First anti-violence western?

The western genre was always about glorifying violence resolutions to a conflict. Was this the first one to suggest that wasn't they way?
Watching it with a 2021 lens, you can say Shane is really about toxic masculinity.

Your posts always personify a pussy.

Why so toxic? Did your dad beat you and your mother and you lacked a positive male figure?

No. Destroy Rides Again is the first to spring to mind and I'm sure there are many others.
But I won't watch old films, especially westerns, with 2021 vision. I think there is a lot older films, or books, can tell us about the times they were made in but you have to accept them as they are.
