Jack Palance couldn't mount his horse

I found it fascinating that in all they takes they had in this movie, they only got ONE good take of Jack Palance mounting his horse. I read in the trivia on here that the shot of Wilson staring down Shane on the ranch, Jack slowly gets off the horse, takes the drink and then slowly and smoothly gets back on the horse, which I thought was just poetry in motion with the look on his face then the way he turns the horse around and leaves. But then it states on here that they edited his remount back on the horse by REVERSING the footage of him getting off the horse so it looks smooth and cool. Wow!!

Interesting. You're afraid of insects and women. Ladybugs must render you catatonic.

Wow is right. I have definitely seen this movie many times years ago, but never noticed the reversed footage. Of course, you must understand that I haven't seen "Shane" in years, so I was probably not looking for films goofs then.

Not important to know. But it does help establish Wilson's menace. His slow deliberate movement. Well done by the director.

I was always struck by the slow deliberate way that he mounted and dismounted his steed. Little did I know...

Just have to admire the magic of movies in situations such as this.🐭

I always remark to my son that if you want to be a male movie star, at some point yer gonna need to ride a horse.

Not only was Palance a wash-out as a horseman he actually suffered from euqinophobia a fear of horses! Their lucky they got ANY footage of Jack with a horse!

What is extra funny, and that I just noted in producing these clips is, the reverse shot is the exact same shot we see 2 minutes earlier in the movie, when he is dismounting his horse. Here it is : https://streamable.com/v88o
