Rainbow Cabins-location of motel

The motel used in the movie, the Rainbow Cabins, was a set that was built for $48,000, overlooking the Falls. It became a real hotel after the movie was completed, and the promotion was "Marilyn Monroe slept here!". The exterior shots were done on location and the interiors were done at 20th Century Fox's West Los Angeles backlot.

Probably too late, but here is a picture of what the cabin location now looks like:

As far as I can tell, the "motel" built for the 1953 movie Niagara consisted of one room and a manager's office. Two buildings in total. Well, three if you consider the enclosure overlooking the falls. Not sure if that was already there or built by the movie crew.

Thank you for that info! We were at the Falls in the summer of 1999 and the small open building seen in front of the American Falls is still there, but other than that, you'd have no idea that a motel was ever there. It's all an open park area now. Love that movie!

I drive by the Falls everyday but I have to say the Canadian side is 100 times better.

Jerk Alert!

H.A.M. for life.
