What Are Your Favorite Lines?

Mine was....."I have my union card now."

"OOO...I'M GON' TELL MAMA!"

reply

My favorite is when Marilyn comes out of the bungalow and asks to have her record "Kiss Me" played.

Max Showalter says to Jean Peters, "Get out the firehose! Hey, why don't you wear a dress like that?"

Jean Peters responds, "For a dress like that a girl has to start laying plans when she's about thirteen."

reply

Ok maybe I am naive here but...what does "laying plans" mean? Me and my friend were watching it today and were like...eh?

reply

What I think that really means, is that usually about the age of 12 or 13,
a young girl starts to develop physically. Her body changes, and her
baby fat starts turning into sexy curves. Mind you now the operative word
here is START. The fine tuning that those sexy and provocative curves
need, evolves over time.

In addition, "laying plans" is comparable to having a blueprint before
you actually start building something.

Also, I think the comment made reference to the fact that sexy
Ms. Marilyn Monroe had been sexy for such a long time,
that the character of Jean Peters would have never been able to catch up!

I wondered about the meaning of that line too. Thanks for explaining HillieBoliday.

Ray: "You like that song Mrs. Loomis?"
Rose: "There isn't any other song."

I love the way Marilyn Monroe delivers that line!

reply

My favorite is when Jean Peters spots Monnroe in an extra-marital clinch, when she was supposed to be out shopping. "Well she's sure got an armful of groceries!"

reply

Joseph Cotten is twisting a scarf in his hands, coming at Marilyn Monroe in the Bell Tower:

"They won't play it for you now, Rose."

My absolute favorite line! And Monroe with that expression of sheer HORROR on her face... fantastic!

"Hi! Would you like to buy some Girl Scout cookies?"
"Are they made from real Girl Scouts?"

reply

Thirty-one minutes into the movie. Rose and George have just had an argument, and she is angrily leaving the room. Before closing the door, Rose says smugly..."Build your Maxwell. I'll be back."

The Maxwell being George's model car kit he had brought along.

That was my favorite line as well. She is just so beautiful and stunning in that red dress. I absolutely love to watch her when she says that to Ray. She's so serious when she says it. I love her in this film!

Fasten your seatbelts.... It's going to be a bumpy night!

My favorite line is, "Didn't that Mrs. Loomis say she was going shopping?" ... "Well she sure got herself an armful of groceries."

reply

Ray says to Polly when she's freaking out about Loomis coming in: "C'mon honey, get organized!"

reply

My favorite line isn't from the movie, it's from the advertising:
"A raging torrent of emotion - even nature can't control!"

One of the best tag lines ever!

reply

The "get out the firehose" is my favorite line.

SCHWING!!

reply

'The British whipped us...HAHA!'

reply

"Georgie, this is quite a change," Rose purrs. "What brought this on?" George smiles. "You know what." He gives her a long kiss. "When we have a fight and make up that way, I never want to leave your side."
