I could relate to the Dread
Regarding whether this movie terrified me, I saw it for the first time as an adult but could totally relate to the frightening parts of it. As a child, I was very literal and always afraid I was going to take the ultimate wrong step (such as laughing at a deaf child and hurting his feelings). So when the little boy thinks he has killed his brother, his flight is so believable. One movie I did see as a child that frightened me was The Red Balloon. I think it was supposed to be whimsical fantasy but to me, as a child, I found it totally creepy that this inanimate object would stalk a child!
