Can This Be Considered As A B-Movie?

First, it was made in the 1950s. Secondly, it's a sci-fi movie! Third, it features aliens and lastly it's so cheesy!

No, because it didn't play a "B" on a double bill. It was shot in 3D and had stereophonic sound and was a very prestigious film for Universal at the time.

Really....?

I've asked because it had 2nd-tiered stars and the plot is kinda cheesy. Futhermore, it's a 1950s sci-fi. It's just fit the bill.

Nowadays, the term B-Movie doesn't have to be as a part of a double feature! The term just derived from it but it doesn't to be it!

You may THINK that the term "B-movie" means "cheesy," but it's nothing of the sort. The by-the-book definition is something that played the bottom half of a double bill, or was expressly made by a "B" unit of a studio.

If you want to think IT CAME FROM OUTER SPACE was a "B" movie, be my guest. But in answer to your question, everything about the film was an 'A' production for Universal. Jack Arnold was a top shelf director, and Richard Carlson and Barbara Rush were prominent stars at the studio at the time.

Although The Day The Earth Stood Still is a 1950s Sci-Fi, it had a big budget and with A-List star, producers and directors! So, I know it's definitely a major mainstream film but this one I dont know at all. The only thing that's mainstream and major about it is the studio!

This movie isn't cheesy. Just because it was 50's sci-fi doesn't have to equate cheese. It's no 'Plan 9 from Outer Space'. It was based on a Ray Bradbury story. But you seem rather uninformed so you probably have to look him up. The movie show real restraint and it's rather sober.

FrancoNero,

* Out of topic *

I see that you're a Franco Nero fan. I'm a fan of his wife. Just wanna know your opinion. Do you still find the current Franco attractive as opposed to his 1960s self? What's your favorite movie of his other than Camelot?

that just happened to be classed in a regarded as B-genre in its time.
Nothing in the movie is B-grade.
Even the severe Mr. Leonard Maltin critic emeritus, gave it the accolade for
being very restrained for its time.

It didn't exactly have an A List Cast.

See. tommyuk says cast wasn't A-List as well. It's just fit the bill. Whatever!

If you don't want to believe an answer to a question you have, why did you ask it in the first place? To be argumentative, or are you just trolling?
