Close the dang window!

It's the dead of winter, 4 below zero at one point and every time they let the Cat back in through the window, they never close the window. The Father complains about the furnace all of the time, yet they leave the window open when they let the Cat back in. How could the continuity people miss something so obvious and so dumb.

It's part of the reason the father doesn't like the cat. It's a nuisance. Also it shows how distracted they are dealing with other issues. What I'm saying is it's intentional; not that they intend to leave it open but it goes unnoticed. The cold air should also have caught their attention but did not.
